Newborn Photography Studio | Baby Stories | Alice

Meet Miss Alice Eve! She’s much bigger than this now and soon we’ll be doing first birthday photos for her, but she had to be a star on my blog, something that is new around here. Instead of reading the same old things from me for each blog post, I’m so happy to be sharing the family’s stories and a bit more about each sweet baby!

We said smile and she smiled! What a newborn photographer’s dream! Alice Eve.

How did Mom & Dad meet?
My husband and I met through a mutual friend. I loved him instantly! He was funny and all together happy! I had never met anyone quit like him before!

How did you tell family and friends you were expecting?
Since this was baby #4, I knew our family wouldn’t be “thrilled” so I got David, my husband to call and tell them. But to my surprise, they were just giddy with excitement. We told our kids with a cake! We had “3kids +1baby=?” Written on it. And had them read it!

What was the best, most surprising or most difficult thing being pregnant? ( Dad can answer, too)
The best thing about being pregnant is knowing that God blessed me to carry a child! Not everyone gets that privilege. I didn’t take it for granted. The worst part was at the end when exhaustion is at it’s best. With three other littles, it wasn’t easy.

Did you find out the gender beforehand? What were both Mom and Dad’s reactions?
Ha. We found out around 20 weeks. David was totally convinced that it was a boy and had our 3 year old son convinced that he would have a brother. So, when the sonogram showed that she was a girl, Isaiah, our son, busted out crying. It broke his little heart.

List the possible baby names, and how you narrowed it down.
I really liked the name “Lucy” but my husband didn’t so we discussed naming her after my husbands late grandmother. Her name was Evelynn. But I suggested Alice. So, we settled on Alice Eve.
How did baby prep go? (Setting up the crib, decorating the nursery, buckling in the carseat, etc,.)
The same day we found out Alice would be a girl David went and bought pink paint. And we painted the nursery that weekend. Then just slowly bought little things here and there over a couple of months. We had it all done way before she made her appearance.

Was labor and delivery what you expected? If not, tell us how things were surprising or not what you expected.
I was induced by my own choice at 39 weeks. It was a perfect labor/delivery. Nothing dramatic. Very laid back (I had an epidural).

Did baby look a lot like Mom, Dad or other siblings? Did you have fun with comparing baby photos?
Alice is a carbon copy of her brother and older sister. I love comparing her to her sister, Zoe. They look a lot alike.

What were Mom’s first thoughts when she saw her baby? And Dad?
My first thoughts were “she’s HUGE”. She weighted 8 lbs 14 oz. We did delayed cord clamping and while she was still connected to me and on my chest she was “rooting” around trying to breastfeed. :). And hasn’t stopped yet. She is my healthy chunky baby girl.

What have the first few weeks at home with baby been like?
I would say those first few weeks were the easiest we have had so far. Our other kids are so helpful. I felt amazing.
