Would you mind sharing a story about your brand new baby? I would love to write a feature on my blog about them!
How did you tell family and friends you were expecting?
My husband and I went on a two week long vacation to the mountains. The first week of the vacation was us alone in the mountains and of course that is when we found out we were pregnant. The second week of our vacation consisted of my entire family ( aunt, cousins ) as well as my in-laws. We were so anxious to tell everyone but could not figure out how. My family is rather large and full of grandchildren so we thought what better way to make things a little confusing. We put the pregnancy test in the christmas tree at the cabin along with other ornaments. My younger cousin was the first one to find it and of course began to ask who it belonged too and got everyone stirred up. We didn’t claim it at first so that we could let everyone wonder and look at their spouses for a bit. Once we claimed it everyone was so excited to welcome a new grand baby to the bunch.
What was the best, most surprising or most difficult thing being pregnant? ( Dad can answer, too)
The best thing about my pregnancy was feeling her kick. She was a very active baby and it was such a joy to see her daddy’s face light up every time he felt her move.

The worst thing about being pregnant for me was dealing with the weight. I have always been an athlete and it was hard to see my body change so much in 9 months. My husband would tell you the worst part was the mood swings and the complaining!!!
Did you find out the gender beforehand? What were both Mom and Dad’s reactions.
We did find out the gender of our baby before hand. I thought it was going to be a boy and my husband thought girl. Of course he was right. We did a big gender reveal party at our cheerleading gym with all of our athletes. We had team pink and team blue. Most of our cheerleaders were team pink because they wanted to add another cheerleading to the mix. I was dead set it was a boy so I was super excited to find out it was a girl and all my husband could do was say I told you so!!!
List the possible baby names, and how you narrowed it down?
Ramzeigh James and Presslyn James were our two that we picked out at first. Ramzeigh is a friend we met when we got engaged in Mexico and we just liked the name. Presslyn was just a name that I have liked for a while. My husband is a name shortener and my options between the two was RAM or PRESS and I didn’t not like either one of those options so I told him we would have to sit down and regroup. We were going through names on the way to his parents house one afternoon and I suggested Cora James and it was all over from there. My husbands eyes lite up and he said I love it. I knew at that moment that was going to be her name. James was always set in the names because that is by husbands fathers name.
How did baby prep go? (Setting up the crib, decorating the nursery, buckling in the carseat,.)
Disastrous!!!! All we could think about was how are we going to be able to become parents if we can’t set all this stuff up on our own. Every time we got a new gift that we had to put together it would sit in the living room for a few days just looking at us. We wouldn’t fool with it until we were up for a challenge. LOL
Was labor and delivery what you expected? If not, tell us how things were surprising or not what you expected.
Labor and deliver was not was I expected at all. Being a gym owner I heard a ton of horror stories!!! In my opinion it was a piece of cake and it is already hard to not want another one!
Did baby look a lot like Mom, Dad or other siblings? Did you have fun with comparing baby photos?
Cora James is all daddy! She just has mommy’s dimples
What were Mom’s first thoughts when she saw her baby? And Dad?
How could we have created something so beautiful.
What have the first few weeks at home with baby been like?
Amazing! She is all smiles. She only cries when she is hungry or needs to be changed.
You can even write a little bit about your baby’s newborn session if you’d like.
Cora’s newborn session was wonderful. Destiny is of course the baby whisperer and knew exactly what to do to get the best pictures of our sweet bundle of joy. My baby did however use the bathroom on EVERY prop! Sorry Destiny. So don’t worry about that if you have a newborn session coming up. The atmosphere was very calming for my newborn and it was overall a great experience.
