Frequently Asked Questions

~ Newborn ~

How can I schedule a newborn session when I don’t exactly know when I will give birth?

I will enter your due date into my calendar and tentatively schedule your session between 10-17 days after your due date depending on my availability on the day you deliver. Once your baby is born, you’ll let me know so we can confirm the date and time as well as any other details and reminders.

When should I book?

As soon as possible! I book only a certain number of sessions per month, so secure your spot as early in your pregnancy as you can to ensure your session is reserved! Please don’t delay in booking. I really want to meet YOUR new baby!!

When do newborn sessions take place?

While it’s certainly possible to get fantastic shots of older newborns, for the best chance of ultra sleepy and squishy babies, I prefer to schedule a newborn session between 10 and 17 days of age. However, if you’re reading this and think, “Darn, I missed it!”, don’t worry! Email me and see if I can work you into my schedule. Chances are we can still get some beautiful photos (and perhaps sleeping) of your newest addition!

Where do the sessions take place?

All newborn sessions take place in my home studio in downtown Brandon, MS where I have access to my ever increasing collection of backdrops and props.

How long does a session last?

Typically, a session can last between 2-3 hours. The time really depends on how sleepy your baby is, how much they want to snack etc,. I have a few tricks up my sleeve to help soothe them and settle into nap time!!

Can I bring a sentimental or heirloom item to be used in the session?

Absolutely! These are your photos and I want you to love them! The birth of a new baby is so special and though I supply everything we’ll need for the session, feel free to bring something that is special to you.

Do you supply all those cute bonnets, hats, headbands and wraps?

Yes, I sure do! I have so many cute props…you wouldn’t even believe it!

Can I request certain poses?

Yes, you sure can. Once you decide to book a session, you’ll get to fill out a questionnaire and tell me all about nursery colors, pose requests, and anything else you want me to know prior to the big day.

Can siblings and/or parents be in a few shots?

Of course! For siblings, I kindly request that they arrive and be included in the photos at either the first or last 30 minutes of the session. Going out to lunch or some park playtime with a family member or family friend is way better than being cooped up in a hot studio for hours having to be still and quiet!

What should we wear for family photos during my newborn’s shoot?

I recommend wearing clothing that is neutral and classic. These will look good in any room of your home and will timeless. Soft color and light patterns work well, too, but please steer away from bright pinks and shades of red. Please consider wearing small earrings and minimal jewelry for these photos. Once you’ve booked your session, please feel free to email me clothing choices and I’m happy to help!

When and how will I receive my newborn’s session photos?

At the end of your newborn’s session, we will schedule a day and time for you to come back to the studio for your view & order consultation. At this consultation, you’ll be presented with 20-30 edited photos and will have the opportunity to place your order.

Do you offer a payment plan?

Yes! Orders in the amount of $850 and over qualify for a payment plan up for up to three months. One third is paid at the time of ordering and the following two payments are made the subsequent two months.

How do I book a session?

Either contact me via the contact me tab above, or email me at destinytilleryphotography@gmail.com

Once you book your session, I will email you with additional information on how to prepare for your newborn session.

I can’t wait to meet your new baby!!

~ Maternity ~

When should I take maternity photos?

It’s best to take maternity photos between 31-36 weeks, but can shoot up until delivery.

What will I wear during my maternity session?

I have a plethora of maternity gowns and lace covers that you’re welcome to wear. You can also bring your own dress or outfit. If you choose to bring a few things, I recommend flowy dresses and form fitting dresses that showcase your baby bump! It’s best to add variety to you gallery by choosing something neutral and also a dress or gown that offers some color.

Can we take studio and outdoor maternity photos?

Yes! In fact, that is what most expectant moms choose to do! Half of the session in the studio and the other half outdoors. The best time of day for outdoor photos is the beautiful golden hour near sunrise or sunset.

When and how will I receive my maternity session photos?

You’ll receive a download link via email for the 15 digital images included with the all inclusive maternity session. In most cases, you’ll be presented with more than 15 to choose from. Additional digital images are for purchase.
